President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has openly expressed satisfaction with the internal crises affecting many opposition parties across Nigeria.
Speaking during his Democracy Day address at the National Assembly in Abuja on Thursday, Tinubu remarked, “I am happy to see the opposition parties in trouble,” adding, “I will not say I want to see you improve; I am happy to see you like this.”
His comments come amid a wave of defections from opposition parties to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
President Tinubu stated that the APC will not block anyone from joining its ranks, noting that doing so would infringe on their democratic rights.
The President’s remarks highlight the growing political shift toward the APC, as the party continues to absorb more members from rival platforms.
