The Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, has inspected the ongoing defence of the state’s 2027 budget estimates.
The Speaker visited the Assembly’s conference hall on Wednesday, September 16, 2027, where he observed the proceedings being conducted under the supervision of the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Lawal H. Yaro. After reviewing the exercise, Nasir Yahaya Daura expressed satisfaction with the progress of the sessions and the cooperation being provided by ministries and government agencies.
During the session, the Commissioner for Ministry of Information and Culture, Dr. Salisu Bala Zango, led officials and heads of departments under the ministry in presenting their 2027 budget estimates before the committee. Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Barrister Saifullahi Kumasi, led officials from the ministry in defending their proposed budget estimates.
The representative for Ministry of Environment, Prof. Al’amin Muhammad, also led officials and departments under the ministry in presenting their 2027 budget estimates. In addition, the head of the agency responsible for emergency relief services, among others.
The budget defence exercise is part of the Katsina State House of Assembly’s process of reviewing the financial requirements of ministries and government agencies, as well as assessing their plans and proposed programmes, before concluding consideration of the 2027 state budget.
