The Qur’anic Education Advancement Network (QEAN) has launched its Katsina State chapter and held special prayers for peace across the 34 local government areas of Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole.
The event was held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the conference hall of the Local Government Service Commission in Katsina, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It featured a statewide thanksgiving and special prayers for peace held across the 34 local government areas of the state, as well as the formal launch of QEAN activities in Katsina State.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of QEAN Katsina State Chapter, Alaramma Muhammad Ahmad, stressed the importance of unity in promoting Qur’anic education and other areas of learning, as well as strengthening peace within communities. He said such gatherings provide an opportunity for scholars, students and other stakeholders to come together, discuss ways of improving community welfare and support education.
The National President of QEAN, Gwani Dr. Ibrahim Surajo, who was accompanied by the National Secretary, Dr. Abdullahi Hamza; National Public Relations Officer, Gwani Abdurrashid Khamis; National Youth Leader, Gwani Abdullahi Mahiru; and National Security Commandant, Gwani Iliyasu Abdullahi, stressed the importance of strengthening the organisation’s activities at state and local government levels. He also inaugurated the National Security Commandant for QEAN in Katsina, saying the move would help establish a structure through which the state chapter could provide officials responsible for safeguarding the organisation’s activities at different levels.
The programme began with a Qur’anic recitation, followed by special prayers for peace in Katsina State and other parts of Nigeria. Sheikh Dr. Aminu Abdullahi Yammawa delivered a lecture on the importance of unity among scholars, students and the wider community. He discussed the history of conflicts and how such challenges have affected communities, while urging Muslims and Nigerians generally to avoid actions that could divide society and instead promote mutual understanding, cooperation and peaceful coexistence.
Imam Dr. Muhammad Sani Sulaiman also spoke on the importance of contributing to the development of Islam. He explained that supporting the religion goes beyond teaching alone, as people can contribute by sharing authentic Islamic teachings, Hadiths and religious rulings, providing financial support, and educating the public on issues that benefit society. He urged scholars, Almajiris and other Muslims to increase efforts to educate communities in ways that can promote peace, stability and sustainable development.
The National Secretary of QEAN, Dr. Abdullahi Hamza, said the organisation was established, among other objectives, to improve the welfare of Almajiris and reduce street begging, while promoting cleanliness, good character, life skills and vocational training. He said the aim was to provide Almajiris with education and practical skills that would enable them to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society like other citizens.
The National Public Relations Officer, Gwani Abdurrashid Khamis, called on QEAN leaders at the state and local government levels to remain committed, patient and persistent in carrying out the organisation’s activities. He stressed that advancing the organisation would require unity, proper planning and sustained commitment to implementing its objectives.
Representing the Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Hon. Isma’il Abdullahi Matazu, expressed his happiness over the special prayers for peace. He commended QEAN’s efforts to bring scholars and communities together, noting that peace is a key foundation for educational, economic and social development in Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole.
At the end of the event, the national leadership of QEAN inaugurated five members to serve in key positions on the State Working Committee (SWC) of the Katsina State chapter, including the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Organising Secretary and Public Relations Officer. The state leadership and representatives from the 34 local government areas were also introduced before the Katsina State Chairman, Alaramma Muhammad Ahmad, delivered a vote of thanks to participants and all those who contributed to the success of the programme.
