ADC Names Rotimi Amaechi as Vice-Presidential Candidate for 2027 Election

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi as its Vice-Presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, following wide consultations and internal party processes.

According to the party’s National Leadership, the decision was reached after discussions with party leaders, coalition partners, and stakeholders across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. The party said Amaechi’s selection also followed the conclusion of its presidential primaries, where he emerged as runner-up with strong nationwide support.

The ADC described the joint ticket of Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi as a partnership of experienced statesmen aimed at addressing Nigeria’s challenges. It said the pairing is expected to promote security, economic recovery, and inclusive national development.

Highlighting Amaechi’s credentials, the party noted his long public service record, including his time as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, two-term Governor of Rivers State, and Minister of Transportation. It said his experience across legislative and executive roles makes him well suited for national leadership responsibilities.

The party further stated that Amaechi’s political influence in the South-South and other parts of Southern Nigeria would strengthen the ticket and help build broader political coalitions across the country.

It added that the Atiku-Amaechi partnership represents a national alliance designed to restore confidence in governance and deliver effective leadership at a critical time for Nigeria.

The ADC called on party members, coalition partners, civil society groups, and Nigerians to support the ticket, expressing confidence that it would bring unity, progress, and renewed hope to the country.
