The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has announced Dr. Jamilu Shaiyaku Gwamna as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
The decision was taken at a stakeholders’ meeting led by the state governor and party leader, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. The meeting also approved consensus candidates for the three senatorial districts, six House of Representatives seats, and 24 State Assembly constituencies.
The meeting was attended by governorship aspirants, National Assembly and State Assembly hopefuls, members of the State Working Committee, party elders, and other key stakeholders. The party said the decision followed wide consultations led by the governor, involving party leaders, aspirants, and grassroots members, to promote unity and reduce internal disagreements ahead of the elections.
According to the party, the consensus arrangement is part of efforts to strengthen its structure and present a united front. It said the move builds on earlier meetings held with party stakeholders at different levels to ensure cooperation and stability within the party.
The party also listed its adopted candidates. For the Senate, they are Mohammed Ahmadu Deba (Gombe Central), Jerry Damara (Gombe South), and Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe North). For the House of Representatives, the candidates include Usman Bello Kumo (Akko), Inuwa Garba (Yamaltu/Deba), Ali Isa JC (Balanga/Billiri), Fatima Binta Bello (Kaltungo/Shongom), Saddam Bello (Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye), and Jamilu Shabewa (Dukku/Nafada).
