A senior aide to the Katsina State governor attended the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration in Batagarawa.
Hon. Sa’idu Ibrahim Danja, popularly known as Kogunan Jibia and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Katsina State on Victims of Banditry and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), attended the event which also featured the graduation of participants from the Girl Shine and Psychosocial Support (PSS) programmes. The event was held on March 9, 2026, at the Women and Girls Safe Space located at Batagarawa Primary Health Centre.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the programme was organized under the Integrated Emergency Response Project for displaced populations in Katsina State, implemented by the International Rescue Committee. The project focuses on health, nutrition, water and sanitation, protection, livelihoods, gender-based violence prevention, education, and peacebuilding. It also marked the completion of vocational training for women and girls in bead making, tailoring, bag making, and knitting.

Speaking at the event, Danja encouraged the beneficiaries to remain united and hopeful while using the skills they learned to improve their lives and support their communities.

The organizers, led by WPE Manager Mary Zi Gyang, said the event celebrated the resilience and achievements of the women and girls and also recognized Danja’s continued support for programmes that promote the wellbeing and empowerment of women in the state.
