NRM State Secretary in Katsina Defects to ADC

The State Secretary of the National Rescue Movement in Katsina State has resigned from the party and joined another political platform.

Abubakar Aminu Birchi announced his resignation from the National Rescue Movement and defection to the African Democratic Congress on Tuesday in Katsina. In a resignation letter addressed to the state chairman of the party, Birchi said his decision followed wide consultations with political associates, supporters, and other stakeholders.

He stated in the letter that he was stepping down as the State Secretary of the NRM and also leaving the membership of the party with immediate effect. Birchi thanked the party leadership for giving him the opportunity to serve and contribute to its activities in Katsina State.

According to him, the current political situation in Nigeria requires stronger cooperation among democratic forces. He said he believes the country needs a united political coalition that can provide better leadership and direction.

Birchi also declared his decision to join the ADC coalition together with what he described as progressive Nigerians who want to build a credible political alternative capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress in future elections.

He added that Nigeria is currently facing serious challenges, including insecurity and growing dissatisfaction among citizens. Birchi said his decision to join the ADC was based on his belief that the party offers a strong platform for Nigerians seeking change, good governance, accountability, economic stability, and democratic values.
