The Kano State Government has returned 40 repaired buses of Kano Line Transport Company back to service after months of being out of operation.
Kano Line, a state-owned transport company, operates routes across 24 states in Nigeria and also travels to some neighbouring West African countries. For several months, 40 of its 18-seater buses were grounded due to different technical problems, which affected transport services and reduced the company’s operations.
As part of efforts to improve public services, create jobs, and solve transportation challenges, the state government fully repaired and refurbished the buses. The buses are now ready to resume operations and serve passengers within and outside Kano State.
Speaking during a brief inauguration ceremony, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said the move is part of his administration’s plan to restore efficiency and dignity to state-owned companies. He added that bringing the buses back to the road will also create employment opportunities for young people in the state.
HIKAYA Newspaper reports that the governor assured residents that his government will continue to invest in important sectors such as transportation and infrastructure to support sustainable development and improve the living conditions of the people.
