Residents of Santarrama in Kusada Local Government Area have raised concern over the condition of a newly constructed feeder road in their community.
The community members said the road failed to meet basic engineering standards and has continued to cause hardship for road users. They expressed disappointment over the quality of the work carried out on the project.
One of the residents, Engineer Mubarak Abubakar Santarrama, said the road does not follow proper engineering guidelines. He explained that a standard feeder road should have the correct width for traffic, strong and stable soil that can carry vehicles, proper drainage systems and culverts, and a gentle slope to allow easy movement of cars.

According to him, the current condition of the road shows that these important requirements were not met. “What was done looks more like piling up loose soil on the road,” he said, adding that vehicles often get stuck in the soft ground and dust rises easily, making movement difficult for residents.
The residents called on the authorities in Kusada Local Government Area to urgently review the project, fix the road properly, or remove the work done and return the road to its former state. They also said efforts to find out the company and engineers responsible for the project have not been successful, as they are yet to receive clear information.
