Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembl, Nasir Yahaya Daura, has emerged winner of the primary election for the Daura Senatorial Zone. The result was announced on Monday in after the collation of votes.
The party’s representative from the APC national headquarters in Abuja, Dr. Yakubu Maccido, said Yahaya-Daura polled 78,394 votes to defeat his opponent, Ahmed Kabir, who secured 2,274 votes. He declared Yahaya-Daura as the APC candidate for the Daura Senatorial District in the 2027 National Assembly election.
Dr. Maccido described the primary election as peaceful and transparent. He also praised party members for their orderly conduct during the exercise, saying the process reflected the APC’s commitment to internal democracy in Katsina State.
Speaking after the declaration, Yahaya-Daura thanked party leaders, delegates, and members for the confidence they placed in him. He promised to provide effective representation and support policies that would improve the welfare of the people in the district.
Meanwhile, Senator Muntari Dandutse representing Funtua Zone and Abdul’aziz Musa-Yar’adua representing Katsina Central also secured their return tickets through consensus ahead of the 2027 general elections.
