The Quranic Education Advancement Network (QEAN), Nigeria, has appointed the Chairman of Jama’atu Izalatil Bidi’a Wa Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Katsina State, Sheikh (Dr.) Yakubu Musa Hassan, popularly known as Sautus-Sunnah, as its National Patron in recognition of his contributions to Quranic education and community development.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the appointment was announced in a letter signed by QEAN National Chairman, Imam Dr. Ibrahim Surajo Rabi’u, and National Secretary, Dr. Abdullahi Hamza Idris. The letter stated that the appointment took effect on September 3, 2026.
According to the letter, the appointment recognises Sheikh Yakubu’s commitment to promoting Quranic education, serving Islam and contributing to community development. The organisation expressed confidence that his preaching, wisdom and guidance would help it achieve its objectives.
Sheikh Yakubu, who leads JIBWIS in Katsina State, received his appointment certificate from the Chairman of QEAN’s Katsina State Chapter, Alaramma Muhammad Ahmad, on Thursday, October 8, 2026. After receiving the certificate, the scholar expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah, showing appreciation for the appointment.
Sheikh Yakubu Musa Hassan Katsina is a Nigerian Islamic scholar and preacher whose work focuses on religious education and Da’awah (Islamic preaching). He began studying the Quran in childhood, memorised the Holy Quran and studied classical Islamic texts. He later pursued further religious education and training, including studies at the Arabic Teachers College in Katsina and legal studies at Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic.
Among his contributions to Islamic education are the establishment of Riyadhul Qur’an Islamic School and Sautussunnah Comprehensive Secondary School in Katsina State. Through teaching, Quranic interpretation and public preaching, he has contributed to Islamic education and the development of religious learning institutions. He is also a prominent figure in JIBWIS and the activities of the Supreme Council for Shariah in Nigeria.
