Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has approved the rehabilitation of 68 additional dilapidated primary schools across the state.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the approval marks the third phase of the state government’s emergency programme for the rehabilitation of dilapidated primary schools, according to a press release signed on Thursday, October 8, 2026, by Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana, Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Governments Inspectorate and Chairman of the committee overseeing the programme.
The committee said the 68 schools represent two primary schools from each of the 34 Local Government Areas of the state. The latest phase follows the rehabilitation of 136 primary schools under the earlier phases of the programme.
The selected schools are spread across various federal constituencies, including Bakori/Danja, Matazu/Musawa, Faskari/Kankara/Sabuwa, Malumfashi/Kafur, Funtua/Dandume and Katsina federal constituencies.
Other areas covered in the third phase include Batagarawa/Charanchi/Rimi, Batsari/Safana/Danmusa, Dutsinma/Kurfi, Jibia/Kaita, Daura/Sandamu/Mai’Adua, Bindawa/Mani, Zango/Baure, Mashi/Dutsi and Ingawa/Kankia/Kusada.
Among the schools listed in the release are Maikwari Primary School and Kadanyar Baushe Primary School in Bakori; Rafin Barwa and Kabir Usman Primary Schools in Danja; Musa Mata and Kaura Primary Schools in Jibia; as well as Galadima Abu Primary School in Yan Daki and Modibawar Kaita Primary School in Kaita.
The committee said the intervention is aimed at improving the condition of primary schools and providing a better learning environment for pupils across Katsina State. The programme is being implemented through the Emergency Committee for the Rehabilitation of the 10 Most Dilapidated Primary Schools in each of the state’s 34 Local Government Areas.
