The Katsina State Police Command, working with the military and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), has foiled a cattle rustling attempt and recovered 117 livestock in Charanchi Local Government Area of the state.

The Command said the operation followed credible intelligence received at about 6:00 p.m. on June 30, 2026, indicating that suspected armed bandits had attacked Saburu and Billiri villages in Charanchi LGA and rustled domestic animals.

According to the police, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) immediately deployed tactical teams in collaboration with the military and KSCWC personnel. The joint security team blocked the suspects’ escape routes, leading to a gun battle that forced the attackers to flee the area.

The operation led to the recovery of 43 cows and 74 sheep, making a total of 117 suspected rustled animals. The Police Command added that security operatives have intensified efforts to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Umar Fage, commended the operatives for their bravery, vigilance, and effective collaboration during the operation. He described the successful mission as a reflection of the value of joint security efforts in protecting communities.

The Police Commissioner also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Katsina State. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information that would support ongoing efforts to prevent and combat crime.
