Police Arrest Four Suspects, Recover Drugs, Weapons and Stolen Items in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested four suspected criminals linked to a notorious syndicate operating in Funtua Local Government Area and recovered illicit drugs, dangerous weapons, stolen property and cash.

The arrests were made during separate intelligence-led operations carried out by police officers in Funtua as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime and criminality across the state. The operations were conducted under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage.

According to a statement issued on June 9, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, officers attached to the Central Police Station, Funtua, arrested a suspected drug dealer, Aliyu Umar, popularly known as “Makami,” following credible intelligence about his activities in the Jabiri area.

Police said a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of 38 Exol tablets, 28 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis and a sharp knife. Investigators believe he is a key member of a drug trafficking network operating within the area, while further investigation continues.

In a separate operation, officers from Makera Police Division arrested three suspects identified as Salim Umar, Yusuf Mustapha and Gaddafi Idris after receiving information about wanted criminals allegedly involved in phone snatching, motorcycle theft, shop breaking and armed robbery around Makera area of Funtua.

Items recovered from the suspects included sharp knives, machetes, scissors, an iron pinch bar, torchlights, Android and keypad phones, a power bank, a wristwatch, a computer charger, two Opay ATM cards, 44 SIM cards, criminal charms, a key and cash amounting to N36,870. Police investigations further linked the suspects to a shop burglary along Bishir Idris Road and the theft of a boxer motorcycle valued at N1.1 million.

The Police Command said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations. CP Ali Umar Fage commended the officers involved in the operations and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Katsina State. He also urged members of the public to continue providing useful information to support crime-fighting efforts.
