Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has sworn in Hon. Justice Christine Terlumun Clement Ende as a Judge of the Benue State High Court.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Old Banquet Hall of the Benue State Government House, where the governor described the appointment as an important step in strengthening the administration of justice in the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Alia said the appointment was a recognition of Justice Ende’s distinguished career of more than three decades in legal practice, judicial administration, human rights advocacy, and public service. He noted that her professional experience had prepared her well for the responsibilities of the Bench.

The governor highlighted Justice Ende’s previous service at African Bank Plc, the National Human Rights Commission, and the Federal High Court, where she served as Deputy Chief Registrar and Admiralty Marshal. According to him, these roles demonstrate her competence, dedication, and readiness to serve as a High Court judge.

Governor Alia revealed that the appointment increases the number of judges in Benue State from 32 to 33 and raises the number of female judges from 13 to 14. He said the development reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusiveness, equal opportunity, and the advancement of women in leadership positions.

Reaffirming his administration’s “HE for SHE” philosophy, the governor stated that sustainable development can only be achieved when women are given equal opportunities to contribute their skills and expertise to society. He urged Justice Ende to uphold the Constitution and perform her duties with integrity, independence, courage, and fairness, describing the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.

Governor Alia also commended the National Judicial Council, the Judicial Service Commission, and the leadership of the Benue State Judiciary for their contributions to the appointment process. He assured the judiciary of continued government support and congratulated Justice Ende on her elevation, wishing her a successful and impactful judicial career. The statement was signed by Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State.
