The Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KTSCHMA) recently organized a workshop with the heads of the 34 local government areas of Katsina State at Comfort Hub Hotel in Kano State. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the agency’s activities and improve the health sector in Katsina State.
The Katsina State Commissioner for Health, Hon Musa Adamu Funtua, emphasized the importance of the meeting in improving the health of the Katsina State community. The Director-General of KTSCHMA highlighted that many local government leaders are aware of the benefits of the Katsina State Health Service, which provides accessible and affordable healthcare for all.
Governor Radda’s administration has been investing heavily in building, renovating, and upgrading hospitals in Katsina State. The KTSCHMA has enrolled approximately 271,096 civil servants across the state, with plans to expand coverage to more residents. The scheme covers employees, spouses, and four biological children below 18 years, with an option to register additional dependents for N9,000 per annum.
The Katsina State House of Assembly representative and Chairman of the Health Committee confirmed the House’s support for the healthcare initiative. Representatives from the National Health Service, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) commended Katsina State’s contribution to healthcare, particularly for government employees. They noted that the N12,000 per person contribution enables the wealthy to support the sick.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures, including the representative of the Emirs of Katsina and Daura. The agency’s efforts aim to improve healthcare delivery and provide financial protection against high healthcare costs for Katsina State residents.
