The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, Ali Umar Fage, has met with officers of the newly created Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) after the completion of a three-day training programme at the State Headquarters.
The training, held from April 21 to April 23, 2026, followed the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen the unit’s ability to respond effectively to violent crimes. The officers were trained on key areas such as human rights in policing, weapon handling, community policing, and modern investigation methods.
Speaking to the officers, CP Fage urged them to apply what they learned during operations and maintain professionalism at all times. He warned against human rights abuse, extortion, and any form of misconduct, stressing that the unit must work strictly within the law and rely on intelligence and community support.
He also called on members of the public to assist the police with useful information to improve security. The command, he said, remains committed to protecting lives and property through a professional and people-friendly approach.
