President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, leading to the exit of two ministers from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Mr. Wale Edun and Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa have been directed to leave the cabinet. Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been asked to hand over to Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been elevated to take over the role. Oyedele was previously Minister of State in the same ministry.
The statement also announced Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma as the new ministerial nominee and minister-designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. Dangiwa has been directed to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry, while all handover processes are expected to be completed on or before April 23, 2026.
Explaining the decision, Akume said the reshuffle is aimed at improving teamwork and strengthening government performance under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He added that the President acted within his constitutional powers and thanked the outgoing ministers for their service, assuring that efforts to improve the cabinet will continue.
