Katsina State Government has successfully implemented 78% of its health budget for 2024, according to Hon. Musa Adamu Funtua, Commissioner of Health.
The State Government, led by Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has constructed a Medical Imaging Center at the General Amadi Rimi Orthopedic Hospital in Batagarawa, costing 12 billion Naira. Additionally, the Medicines Integration Company was built at a cost of over 1.1 billion Naira, and the construction of a kidney treatment hospital was completed.
Rural Healthcare Development:
The government is building 102 rural hospitals, equipped with healthcare facilities and staff houses. This is in addition to the 34 units being built in each local government, which were initiated by Governor Dikko. Previously, there was only one operational hospital in all 361 wards of Katsina State.
Hospital Upgrades:
The government is also upgrading hospitals in Dandume, Faskari, Charanci, and Zango. The Faskari Hospital has been transferred to a General Hospital and is now operational.
Nutrition and Medical Equipment:
The government spent 200 million Naira last year on nutritious food and 300 million Naira this year. Furthermore, the government has repaired medical machines for MRI and CT-Scan at the General Amadi Rimi Orthopedic Hospital.
KATCHIMA Health Assistance Program:
Katsina State Government has ensured the effective implementation of the KATCHIMA health assistance program statewide.
AIDS Awareness Campaign:
The Katsina State AIDS Control Agency (KTSACA) launched an AIDS awareness campaign on December 1, achieving significant success in educating the community about the disease. Dr. Bala Nuhu Kankia, Executive Secretary of KTSACA, reported that the agency has made progress in combating AIDS in Katsina State.
Training Medical Specialists:
The government has initiated a program to train doctors to become specialists in Katsina State, focusing on kidney care and nursing. These efforts demonstrate the state government’s commitment to improving healthcare services and combating diseases.
