Katsina Govt Launches Support for Islamic Schools and Mosques

The Katsina State Government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, has launched the distribution of support materials including bags of cement, metal roofing sheets, mats, and financial assistance to facilitate renovation works in Islamic schools, mosques, and religious organizations across the state.

The programme was officially launched on Sunday, January 18, 2026, during which three trailer loads of cement, 100 bundles of roofing sheets, 700 mats, and substantial sums of money were distributed to representatives of Islamic schools, mosques, and religious organizations from different parts of Katsina State.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Hon. Ishaq Shehu Dabai, who led the distribution exercise, disclosed that a total of 271 Islamic schools and 97 mosques would benefit from the building materials and financial support, while other religious organizations and authors of Islamic books would receive direct cash assistance.

Hon. Dabai expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and commended the Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, for initiating the programme aimed at promoting and strengthening Islamic activities.

He explained that the support was designed to improve facilities for worship and religious education, adding that this phase represents the first batch of the 2025 support programme, with a second phase expected after its completion.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the state government for its continued support of Islamic institutions and religious development.

The launch ceremony, held at the premises of the Katsina State Ministry of Religious Affairs, was attended by Special Advisers to the Governor on Izala, Tariqa, and Tsangaya affairs, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, and other senior government officials.
