Katsina SOCU Trains Enumerators on Social Register Update

The Katsina State Operations Coordinating Unit (SOCU) of the National Social Safety-Net Programme has conducted a one-day refresher training for Enumerators drawn from Daura, Malumfashi and Dutsinma Local Government Areas, as part of efforts to expand the State Social Register.

A statement by the SOCU Information Officer, Marwana Abubakar Darma, said the training was aimed at preparing the Enumerators for face-to-face socio-economic data collection of recently targeted poor and vulnerable households in the pilot areas.

He explained that the exercise forms part of ongoing initiatives to strengthen data accuracy and improve the effectiveness of social intervention programmes in the state.

Speaking at the training, the State Coordinator, Hajiya Karima Abdulkarim, urged participants to strictly adhere to operational guidelines, maintain good rapport with community members, avoid data distortion, and ensure accurate geo-point capture using the Computer Aided Personal Interview (CAPI) system.

She stressed that only clean and credible data would attract payment, while some Enumerators, in separate interviews, expressed readiness to discharge their duties diligently and justify the confidence reposed in them.
