The Katsina State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KATSACA), under the leadership of Dr. Bala Nuhu Kankia (Sadaukin Kankia), in collaboration with the Office of the Katsina State First Lady, Hajiya Fatima Dikko Radda (Zinariyar Gwagware), has organized a sensitization program for pregnant women on cervical cancer, breast cancer, and HIV/AIDS in Batagarawa Local Government Area.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the event also featured the distribution of delivery kits to 100 pregnant women.
The program, held at the CHC General Hospital, Batagarawa, took place on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. It was jointly organized by KATSACA and the First Lady’s Foundation (PAC-F) to educate women on how to protect themselves from these diseases and seek timely medical help when infected.
In his welcome address, the Executive Director of KATSACA, Dr. Bala Nuhu Kankia, emphasized the importance of public enlightenment on disease prevention and control. He noted that continuous sensitization would go a long way in protecting the health of women and families across Katsina State.
In her remarks, the Katsina State First Lady, Hajiya Fatima Dikko Radda, represented by Hajiya Aisha Mukhtar, expressed her delight with the initiative, reiterating the importance of women’s health, particularly that of pregnant women. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting programs that promote public health and community well-being.
During the event, 100 pregnant women benefited from the distribution of delivery kits and other support items donated by the First Lady. The occasion was attended by the State Commissioner for Health, represented by Dr. Mu’awiyya Aliyu, the Executive Secretary of the State Health Board, Dr. Lawal Rabe, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Health, Member representing Kankia Constituency Hon. Salisu Hamza Rimaye, community leaders, and health experts who presented papers on cancer and HIV/AIDS prevention.
