Katsina Govt Concludes 2026 Budget Defence Exercise

The Katsina State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning has successfully concluded the 2026 Budget Defence exercise, which involved 117 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the state.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that the two-week exercise, which ended on Monday, 21st October 2025, provided a platform for all MDAs to present and justify their proposed expenditures in alignment with the fiscal priorities and development vision of the Katsina State Government under the leadership of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD.

The process was coordinated by the Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Malam Malik Anas, in collaboration with members of the budget defence committee, including the Accountant General, Auditor General, and Permanent Secretaries of selected MDAs.

The Commissioner commended all participating agencies for their active engagement and cooperation throughout the exercise, reiterating the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the prudent management of public resources.

According to Malam Anas, the 2026 Budget reflects Governor Dikko Radda’s vision for good governance, data-driven planning, and efficient use of public funds. He emphasized that every naira allocated must address the genuine needs of the people and contribute to building a stronger and more prosperous Katsina State.

The budget, he added, is people-centered and result-oriented, focusing on critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, youth and women empowerment, security, infrastructure, and social welfare.

The Ministry noted that the budget defence marks the second phase of the budget formulation process, which will now move to the Katsina State House of Assembly for legislative consideration and approval before being presented to the Governor for assent.

It expressed appreciation to all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the process and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to fiscal discipline and effective implementation of its development agenda.
