Gov Uba Sani Flags Off Strategic Road Projects

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has flagged off the construction of two key road projects in Makarfi and Kudan Local Government Areas. The projects include the Durum–Kuruntumawa road in Makarfi and the Hunkuyi–Unguwan Rimi–Basawa road linking Kudan and Sabon Gari.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that he announced the development in a Facebook post on Monday, September 8, 2025.

The governor explained that Makarfi and Kudan LGAs are among 12 areas in the state that have not benefited from any road construction in the last 12 years. He said the groundbreaking ceremonies reflect his administration’s deliberate effort to ensure fairness and equity in the distribution of infrastructure. “These two roads are pathways to opportunity, and symbols of our shared determination to build a better Kaduna State,” he stated.

Governor Sani emphasized that road construction remains central to his development agenda. He recalled that upon assumption of office on May 29, 2023, he pledged to bring development to every community. “Well-built roads are the backbone of economic activity. They connect people to markets, children to schools, patients to health centres, and farmers to prosperity,” he noted.

Highlighting the economic impact, the governor said Makarfi and Kudan are major farming hubs producing crops such as maize, sugarcane, tomatoes, soybeans, and grapes. With agriculture contributing 42 percent of Kaduna’s GDP, he explained that the roads will improve productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and raise farmer incomes. He added that the projects are part of ongoing state-wide road construction, which has so far delivered 44 completed roads out of 85 started in the first phase, with an additional 50 roads and bridges underway in the second phase.
