“Tinubu Defends Fairness in Project Distribution” – FG

The Federal Government has dismissed claims of lopsidedness in the allocation of projects, appointments, and opportunities under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that it said the administration has remained guided by fairness, justice, and equity in ensuring balanced development across all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

In a press release issued on Sunday, August 31, 2025, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, explained that major infrastructural interventions are ongoing nationwide. According to him, the government has secured ₦150 billion for the Kano light rail and ₦100 billion for Kaduna, while metroline projects in Lagos and Ogun States are also in progress. Collectively, these projects are expected to generate over 250,000 jobs.

The Minister stated that more than 1,000 primary health care centres have been rehabilitated nationwide, while rail rehabilitation from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri is underway. He added that verifiable data shows the Northwest as the highest beneficiary of project approvals, with ₦5.97 trillion representing over 40 percent, followed by the South-South with ₦2.41 trillion, North Central ₦1.13 trillion, South West (excluding Lagos) ₦604 billion, South East ₦407 billion, and North East ₦400 billion.

Highlighting legacy road projects, Idris noted that the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway, Trans-Sahara Highway, and Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road are all receiving attention, with 52 percent of the works located in the North and 48 percent in the South. He listed other ongoing works including Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Road, Sokoto–Gusau–Funtua–Zaria Road, Enugu–Onitsha Road, Eleme–Onne Road, and Bodo–Bonny Road, among others.

Beyond roads and rails, the Minister revealed that the Tinubu administration has revived the 255MW Kaduna Power Plant, advanced the AKK Gas Project, and supported oil exploration in Kolmani, Bauchi and Gombe States. He added that the Kano–Maradi rail line, inherited at 5 percent completion, has now reached 67 percent due to fresh funding support.

Idris emphasized that President Tinubu is building national infrastructure and not local trophies. He said equity is also evident in federal appointments, as capable Nigerians from all regions are being included. He further stressed that initiatives such as the establishment of five new Regional Development Commissions and the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development confirm Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive governance.
