Katsina Acting Gov Seeks Backing Against Banditry

Katsina State Acting Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe, has appealed for deeper military support to reinforce ongoing operations against banditry in the state.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that he made the call during a side meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) event held yesterday in Abuja.

Malam Jobe stressed that banditry continues to endanger rural communities, causing displacement, loss of livelihoods, and disruptions to farming. He noted that the crisis demands stronger synergy between security agencies and the state government, adding that ensuring safety is key to restoring peace and reviving the socio-economic fabric of Katsina. He reaffirmed his administration’s determination to work with security stakeholders until the menace is brought under control.

In response, General Musa assured the Acting Governor of the Armed Forces’ total commitment to the fight against banditry. He emphasized that restoring peace in Katsina and other troubled areas remains a shared priority, and pledged to strengthen military operations until stability is achieved.

The meeting, which was part of the IOM programme, was also attended by the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and IOM Deputy Director-General (Operations), Ms. Ogechi Daniels, alongside other dignitaries.
