Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, has launched a large-scale empowerment initiative aimed at supporting residents across his constituency.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the program, which commenced on Saturday in Tangaza Local Government Area, featured the distribution of 1,000 motorcycles, sewing machines, water pumping machines for irrigation farmers, and 10,000 bags of rice.

The first phase of the initiative targeted beneficiaries from Silame, Binji, Gudu, and Tangaza local governments. According to the breakdown, each of the four local governments received 1,000 bags of rice and 50 motorcycles, while sewing machines were given to women for self-reliance and water pumps to farmers to enhance dry-season farming and food security. Beneficiaries included ward chairmen, women leaders, social media coordinators, and traditional leaders.

Speaking on behalf of Senator Wamakko, Alhaji Nasiru Italy, an APC youth leader, described the lawmaker’s leadership style as inclusive and extending beyond his senatorial district. Similarly, Deputy Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Kabiru Ibrahim Kware, while flagging off the motorcycle distribution, commended Wamakko as a fatherly figure and a respected leader across party lines, noting that APC’s grassroots-driven programs have overshadowed the opposition in the state.
Also present, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Almustafa Abubakar Alkali, reaffirmed the Senator’s commitment to keeping his promises. Other dignitaries, including Tangaza Local Government Chairman Isah Salihu Bashir, Assembly member Alhaji Aliyu Usman Lumu, Special Adviser on RUWASSA Abubakar Chika Dantama, and Commissioner for Environment Alhaji Nura Shehu Tangaza, applauded Wamakko for sustaining what they called a tradition of empowerment.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, saying the provision of vehicles, farming tools, food items, and sewing machines would improve their livelihoods and strengthen support for progressive politics in Sokoto. The initiative will continue in the remaining local governments of Kware, Wamakko, Sokoto North, and Sokoto South before being extended to other areas of the state.
