Wife Arrested for Fatal Stabbing of Co-Wife

A 25-year-old housewife, Rabi’a Labaran, has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command in connection with the fatal stabbing of her co-wife, Zainab Lawal, 30. The incident occurred on May 24, 2025, behind Dadi Primary School in the Sabon Gari area of Daura town.

According to reports, a domestic dispute between the two co-wives escalated into a fatal confrontation. The husband, Nasir Yusuf, discovered Zainab’s lifeless body upon returning home from the market around 11 pm. She had been stabbed multiple times with a knife. The police were promptly informed, and a team of operatives led by the DPO rushed the victim to the Federal Medical Centre Daura, where she was pronounced dead.

During the investigation, Rabi’a Labaran confessed to the crime, stating that a misunderstanding with Zainab led to a scuffle, which tragically resulted in Zainab’s death. The police have taken Rabi’a into custody and are currently conducting further investigations into the matter.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, has urged members of the public to refrain from domestic violence and taking the law into their own hands. Instead, he encourages individuals to seek legal means for redress in cases of disputes, emphasizing that vigilantism only perpetuates harm and undermines the rule of law.

The Katsina State Police Command is committed to ensuring that justice is served in this case. As the investigation continues, the police will work to bring the perpetrator to justice, serving as a deterrent to others who may engage in similar acts of violence.
