Kebbi State has celebrated Bello Muhammad after Guinness World Records recognised his achievement of riding the tallest unsupported bicycle, measuring 2.9 metres (9 feet 5 inches).
The recognition was presented to the state government by Alhaji Abubakar Bagudu Dallatun Kalgo, Patron of the Equity Cyclists Association, who credited Governor Nasir Idris’s support for youth development. He said the achievement highlighted the creativity and abilities of young people in Kebbi.
Dallatun Kalgo explained that Bello, a student associated with the association, had also shown skills in electronics, technology and design. He said social media and other media platforms helped bring Bello’s talent to wider public attention, leading to international recognition without lobbying.
“There was no lobbying involved. His talent was discovered through social media and other media platforms,” he said, while acknowledging the state government’s efforts to encourage young people to develop their abilities and become self-reliant.
Governor Nasir Idris, represented by the Head of Service, Alhaji Mallami Shekare, congratulated Bello and described his achievement as evidence of the creativity, determination and resourcefulness of Kebbi youths. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting young people who develop useful skills and contribute to the state’s progress.
The governor also urged young people across the state to embrace innovation, technical skills and entrepreneurship as ways to achieve self-reliance and support economic growth. As part of the government’s support, Shekare donated ₦1 million to the Equity Cyclists Association to strengthen its activities and promote talent development.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK, also praised the achievement, saying it had brought positive international attention to Kebbi State. Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Buhari Mohammed Wara, representing the commissioner, commended the association for identifying and encouraging young talent.
Bello’s recognition highlights the importance of supporting creativity, technical skills and youth-focused initiatives. The state government said continued investment in young people would help them develop their abilities, achieve wider recognition and contribute to Kebbi’s social and economic development.
