Bugaje Boosts SDP Leaders and Candidates in Katsina

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) vice-presidential candidate in Nigeria, Dr. Usman Muhammad Bugaje, has urged the party’s leaders and candidates in Katsina State to prepare adequately for the 2027 general elections.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that Bugaje made this call during a pre-campaign visit to the SDP headquarters in Katsina State on Friday, October 23, 2026, where he met with party leaders, candidates, and other stakeholders. The meeting focused on strengthening the party and developing strategies for the forthcoming elections.

In his remarks, Bugaje, who hails from Katsina State, criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He expressed concern about the challenges facing Nigerians and what he described as setbacks in some areas of national development. He called for good leadership capable of addressing the country’s economic and social challenges.

He also expressed the view that Nigeria still needs effective leadership to deliver the development citizens expect from democracy. Bugaje urged SDP candidates and leaders to intensify efforts to communicate the party’s policies to the public, particularly its plans for security, the economy, education, healthcare, and improving people’s living conditions.

Bugaje noted that Katsina State has played an important role in the history of the SDP since the party’s establishment. He therefore encouraged members to remain committed to strengthening the party and expanding its support base. He further stressed that honesty, integrity, and sound policies are essential foundations of good leadership, warning that the absence of these values could hinder national development.

The Katsina State SDP Chairman, Alhaji Bello Adamu Safana, appealed to residents of the state to support the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections. He said the SDP aims to promote leadership that prioritises community development and urged members to work together to achieve the party’s objectives.

Similarly, the SDP governorship candidate in Katsina State, Dr. Magaji Aliyu Dansarai, mni, called on residents to support efforts to replace the APC-led government in the 2027 elections. He urged the public to consider the party’s policies and the kind of leadership it intends to provide as the elections approach.

The meeting was attended by SDP leaders in Katsina State, candidates, and other stakeholders. Discussions centred on strengthening unity within the party, raising public awareness of its policies, and preparing for the 2027 general elections.
