Nigerian Army troops have recorded major successes in operations across the country, killing 27 terrorists, arresting 10 suspected criminals, and rescuing eight kidnapped victims during coordinated security operations conducted within the last 48 hours.
The military said the operations were carried out through intelligence-led land and air missions in Borno, Plateau, Nasarawa, Akwa Ibom states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The operations also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, stolen vehicles, communication devices, and other items linked to criminal activities.
In Borno State, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai carried out precision air strikes on terrorist hideouts in the Tumbuns area. Military assessments confirmed that 27 terrorists were killed, including 12 insurgents at Dawoshe in Kukawa Local Government Area and 15 others at Metele in Guzamala Local Government Area.
Ground troops in the state also arrested a suspected terrorist along the Mandara-Girau-Sabon Gari axis in Biu Local Government Area. Soldiers recovered food supplies, communication gadgets, blankets, herbicides, and batteries believed to be meant for insurgents. In a separate operation near Kareto, troops foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued six civilians, including three men and three women, without injury.
In Plateau State, troops of Operation Enduring Peace arrested a suspected kidnapper and cattle rustler during a raid in Bokkos Local Government Area. Recovered items included ammunition, an AK-47 magazine, a laptop, a mobile phone, and military-style clothing. Four other suspects were also arrested in Jos South Local Government Area with a locally made pistol and ammunition.
In Nasarawa State, troops rescued two kidnapped victims after their abductors fled on sighting advancing security forces. Follow-up operations led to the discovery of a criminal hideout where security personnel recovered a locally fabricated pistol, live cartridges, communication devices, foreign and local currencies, and ₦1.8 million suspected to be proceeds of crime. In the FCT, troops intercepted two suspected car thieves along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway and recovered a stolen Mercedes-Benz E350 vehicle.
Meanwhile, troops conducting anti-crude oil theft operations in Akwa Ibom State recovered about 325 litres of suspected stolen Automotive Gas Oil concealed in sacks in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area. The military described the operations as evidence of the effectiveness of intelligence-led security efforts and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance national peace and security.
