Obi speaks on political pressure, exit from ADC

In a reflective statement shared after church on Sunday, Obi said many people do not understand the private struggles faced by public figures. He described the system as toxic, noting that intimidation, insecurity, and unfair criticism have become common in the country.

Obi said it is more painful when people one expects support from become part of the pressure. He added that in today’s society, humility is often seen as weakness, while honesty and compassion are misunderstood.

Speaking on his exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Obi clarified that his decision was not due to any personal problem with party leaders such as David Mark or Atiku Abubakar. Instead, he said ongoing internal crises, court cases, and divisions influenced his decision.

He stressed that he is not desperate for political office but is more concerned about improving the lives of Nigerians. Obi said he remains hopeful that the country can achieve good leadership based on justice, compassion, and equal opportunities for all citizens.
