Tinubu swears in Darma as Housing Minister

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in Dr Muttaqha Rabe Darma as the new Minister of Housing and Urban Development following his clearance by the Senate.

Dr Darma replaces Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, who recently stepped down from the position. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the State House, where the President congratulated the new minister and described his appointment as timely.

Speaking during the ceremony, President Tinubu said Dr Darma has a strong background and the experience needed to serve the country at a challenging time. He praised his past contributions and urged him to be ready to serve with commitment in any role assigned to him.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that Dr Darma is a scholar and development expert with degrees from institutions including University of Liverpool, Atlantic International University, Bayero University Kano, and University of Benin. He is also a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Institute of Management.

Before his appointment, he served in several roles, including Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund and commissioner in Katsina State. He also worked as a lecturer and was the President of the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Human Development Centre.
