Police Arrest Seven Suspected Bandits in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested seven suspected bandits in a series of intelligence-led operations targeting criminal networks in Bagudo Local Government Area.

The arrests were made during separate operations along the Illo–Lolo Road and the Bakin Ruwa–Ka’oje axis as part of intensified efforts to tackle banditry and other criminal activities in the area.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the operations focused on the Soda Forest axis and surrounding border communities known for criminal activities.

The police said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly involved in providing logistics support to armed groups operating from forest hideouts within the area.

The statement added that investigators are working to determine whether the suspects were linked to recent security incidents, including an attack that led to the killing of three personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police, Umar M. Hadejia, described the arrests as a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against banditry and other crimes in the state.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining security operations and ensuring that those involved in criminal activities are brought to justice, while urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with useful information.
