ADC Kaduna Disowns ‘Illegal’ Party Leaders

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kaduna State chapter, has declared the activities of Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, Idris Musa and a few others parading themselves as party leaders in the state as illegal, accusing them of working to destabilize the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued to journalists in Kaduna on Thursday, January 22, 2026, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Alex Tagwai, alleged that the individuals are being sponsored by enemies of the ADC who want to weaken opposition forces and promote a one-party system in the state. He further claimed that the group is allegedly building a structure for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under the name of the ADC, promising that they would be exposed at the appropriate time.

Tagwai condemned what he described as an illegal and unauthorized meeting held by the group on Wednesday, as well as the resolutions issued afterwards, describing the move as a calculated attempt to defraud party members and mislead the public. He stated that Elder Patrick Ambut remains the legitimate and recognized chairman of the ADC in Kaduna State, while urging Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, Idris Musa and their associates to stop what he called “shameful entrepreneur politicking” aimed at destabilizing the party.

The party also called on security agencies to take note of the alleged illegal activities, insisting that the group had been expelled from the party and that no existing court order empowered them to assume leadership or conduct activities on behalf of the party in Kaduna. The statement said an ex-parte order reportedly obtained by the group was temporary and did not confer leadership on them, declaring any contrary claims null and void.

The ADC reaffirmed Ummi Cooler Lu’ulu’un Zazzau as the legally recognized Women Leader in the state and maintained Hon. Alex Tagwai as the party’s Publicity Secretary, warning Joyce Sim Adamu Gambo to stop parading herself as the Women Leader.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that the party passed a vote of confidence on Elder Patrick Ambut’s leadership, thanked the national secretariat for its support, and assured members and the public of better days ahead.
