Katsina Assembly Sets Sept 14 for Public Hearing on 2027 Budget

The Katsina State House of Assembly has set Monday, September 14, 2027, for a public hearing on the state’s proposed 2027 budget.

The decision followed the second reading of the 2027 Appropriation Bill and the approval of a schedule for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to present and defend their budget estimates before the Assembly. The Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Lawal H. Yaro, presented the schedule and said the budget defence exercise would begin on Tuesday, September 15.

Hon. Lawal H. Yaro said the public hearing would give citizens and other stakeholders an opportunity to present their views and recommendations on the proposed budget before its final consideration and passage by the Assembly. The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Abduljalal Haruna Runka, who presided over the sitting, announced the Assembly’s approval of the schedule.

The public hearing is expected to bring together relevant stakeholders to review the proposed budget and provide recommendations aimed at addressing the key development priorities of Katsina State.
