Leaders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State have organized a Sallah gathering aimed at strengthening unity among party members and discussing preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The event, held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the residence of the NDC candidate for the Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Sani Salisu Magama, attracted hundreds of male and female party supporters from different parts of the local government area.
Speaking at the gathering, Alhaji Sani Salisu said the mission of the NDC is to rescue people from poverty, hardship, and insecurity. He explained that the party had previously organized a similar event during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration to promote unity among members and educate the public on the importance of education, peaceful coexistence, and the protection of public property.
He also urged young people to embrace education and vocational skills in order to become self-reliant, while avoiding actions that could lead to conflict or unrest in society. He further assured the people that he would continue to uphold their trust if elected to represent them in the future.
Speakers at the event, including Islamic clerics and party leaders, advised youths to avoid insulting one another, especially on social media and during election campaigns. They also stressed the importance of respecting the law and avoiding taking the law into their own hands whenever disagreements arise.
The Chairman of the NDC in Jibia Local Government Area, Hon. Shamsuddeen Ibrahim, commended the growing number of people joining the party. He also encouraged residents to obtain their voter cards, describing them as an important tool for citizens to elect leaders or replace those whose performance does not meet public expectations.
In her remarks, the Women Leader of the NDC in the local government, Hajiya Farida Sale, called on women and youths to collect their voter cards and support the party in the upcoming elections. She also prayed for the success of the party and the overall progress of the community.
Other party leaders from both the state and local government levels highlighted the developmental programmes they believe the NDC would introduce if given the opportunity to govern in 2027. The event also featured music and entertainment by party supporters before it concluded with prayers for lasting peace and development in Jibia and Nigeria as a whole.
