NPF Repatriates Wanted Chinese Gang Leader

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully repatriated a high-profile fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng, to the People’s Republic of China in a landmark operation coordinated through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that the operation, conducted in partnership with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Embassy of China in Nigeria, demonstrates the Force’s strong commitment to tackling transnational organized crime.

Mr. Dai, a notorious gang leader wanted in Guizhou Province, China, for organizing and leading violent criminal activities, fled his country in 2024 after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was tracked, monitored, and apprehended in Abuja by INTERPOL operatives on August 8, 2025, and was subsequently repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under established police-to-police cooperation arrangements.

In a statement issued on Saturday, August 24, 2025, by Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, reaffirmed the Force’s determination to ensure that no fugitive finds safe haven in Nigeria.

He stressed that the arrest and repatriation of Mr. Dai reflects the strength of international security partnerships and sends a clear message to criminals worldwide that Nigeria will not serve as a hiding place for offenders.
