The Katsina State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KATSACA) has launched the distribution of HIV/AIDS medicines, test kits, and laboratory supplies to 24 public hospitals across the state to strengthen access to treatment and diagnostic services.
The distribution exercise was officially launched on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the General Hospital in Katsina under the leadership of the Executive Secretary of KATSACA, Dr. Bala Nuhu Kankia. The initiative is aimed at improving the availability of essential medical supplies for HIV prevention, testing, monitoring, and patient care in health facilities across the state.
According to the agency, the items being distributed include HIV test kits, laboratory consumables, medicines used to treat opportunistic infections among people living with HIV, as well as CD4 and Viral Load testing materials, including kidney and liver function test supplies. The agency said the equipment would support healthcare workers in providing quality services to patients.
Hospitals selected to benefit from the programme in the Katsina Central Zone include General Hospital Katsina, PHC Kofar Marusa, CHC Kaita, PHC Yandaki, CHC Charanchi, PHC Koda, General Hospital Dutsinma, and CHC Dutsinma.
In the Daura Zone, the beneficiary facilities are the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Daura, PHC Hindatu, General Hospital Mani, CHC Jani, General Hospital Kankia, PHC Galadima, CHC Bindawa, and PHC Doro. Meanwhile, facilities in the Funtua Zone include CHC Bakori, PHC Kabomo, General Hospital Malumfashi, PHC Malumfashi, General Hospital Kafur, PHC Masari, PHC Marabar Musawa, and CHC Jikamshi.
KATSACA said the distribution forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen HIV/AIDS prevention, diagnosis, and treatment services across Katsina State by ensuring that health facilities have the medicines and laboratory materials needed to provide uninterrupted care for patients.
The agency added that the programme aligns with the Katsina State Government’s commitment, under the administration of Governor Dikko Umar Radda, to improve healthcare delivery and expand access to essential medical services across the state.
