Tinubu Celebrates Rescue of Abducted Oyo Schoolchildren, Teachers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed joy over the successful rescue of the abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oriire Community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, describing the operation as a major victory for the country’s security agencies.

In a statement, the President praised the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force for their efforts in securing the safe release of the victims after 56 days in captivity. He said the operation was carefully coordinated, leading to the rescue of the children and teachers without harm, while eight suspects were arrested and others involved in the attack were neutralized.

President Tinubu said he deeply regretted the pain and anxiety experienced by the children, their teachers, their families, and the nation since the abduction. He noted that the successful operation had brought relief to the affected families and ended weeks of uncertainty.

The President also vowed that justice would be served for the victims and for the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who lost his life during the incident. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that those responsible for such crimes are held accountable through the legal process.

President Tinubu commended the Oyo State Government for its cooperation with the Federal Government throughout the rescue mission. He also urged the state government to strengthen security around schools to help protect students, teachers, and educational facilities.

He further directed relevant emergency response agencies to work closely with the Oyo State Government to provide the rescued children and teachers with the medical care, psychosocial support, and other relief services needed to aid their recovery.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving national security and protecting lives and property across the country. He also thanked members of the armed forces, intelligence agencies, and the police for their professionalism and dedication throughout the rescue operation.
