The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has named Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that Mustapha Kwankwaso, the son of former Kano State Governor and Senator, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was formally unveiled as the deputy governorship candidate by Gwarzo. The announcement was confirmed on Monday by Kwankwasiyya spokesperson, Habibu Saleh Mohammed.

In a brief statement, Mohammed said, “HE Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo unveiled Hon. Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as running mate for the 2027 Governorship Election.”

He also thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in him during his time in office, noting that the experience provided him with valuable lessons and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Mustapha further expressed hope that young people in Kano State would continue to receive support and opportunities. He also voiced confidence that ongoing sports development programmes and youth-focused initiatives in the state would continue to grow and achieve positive results in the years ahead.
