Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recovered a cache of weapons and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during an offensive operation against suspected Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi State.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the operation was carried out on June 14, 2026, in the Dogon Daji area of Dandi Local Government Area, according to a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
The statement said troops engaged the terrorists and overpowered them with superior firepower, forcing the suspects to abandon their positions and flee the area.
Following the initial assault, soldiers pursued the fleeing terrorists along their withdrawal routes, leading to the recovery of weapons, explosives, and other logistics equipment left behind during the escape.
Items recovered during the operation included Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple improvised explosive devices, two motorcycles, battery chargers, and other personal belongings.
The Army confirmed that no soldier was killed or injured during the operation, describing the mission as a successful effort against terrorist activities in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel Osoba said the operation demonstrates the commitment of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to dismantling terrorist and bandit networks across the region and ensuring the safety of residents.
