Hon. Muhammadu Halliru, also known as Sadaukin Jibia and Sardaunan Kaita, has denied rumours that he defected to an opposition party, insisting that he remains a committed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The rumours spread on social media and among residents, especially after the recent consensus arrangement in Katsina State, which denied him the party ticket to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Jibia and Kaita Federal Constituency. Some also linked the claim to a cap he was seen wearing, which had a two-finger symbol.
Speaking at a press conference in Katsina on Friday, May 1, 2026, Halliru said there is no party better than APC for him. He explained that his political rise and recognition came through the party and urged his supporters not to be angry or defect because of the outcome of the consensus process.
He added that he accepted the outcome as an act of destiny, stressing that he holds no grudge. According to him, he joined the race following calls from the people of Kaita and Jibia who believed in his ability to serve, and he will continue to support them even without holding office.
Halliru also called on his supporters to remain patient and calm, noting that there is still time ahead. He assured that the humanitarian activities of his Sadauki Support Foundation will continue, as he remains committed to helping the people.
Meanwhile, some of his supporters, including Aminu Tasi’u and Abdussalam Kabir, said the cap he wore is a common political symbol used by different politicians, including Nasir Idris, and does not indicate defection to another party.
