The Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammad Maijama’a P.N, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of JIBWIS (Izala) Gombe State Chapter, Alhaji Salisu Muhammad Gombe, to seek collaboration in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking across the state.
During the visit, Commander Maijama’a emphasized the need for cooperation between the NDLEA and religious leaders, particularly JIBWIS, in sensitizing the public—especially the youth—about the dangers of drug abuse and its devastating effects on their lives and future. He noted that the collective effort of religious and security institutions is vital in curbing this growing menace.
In his response, JIBWIS Gombe State Chairman, Alhaji Salisu Muhammad Gombe, commended the NDLEA for its relentless efforts in tackling drug-related issues and assured the agency of the organization’s full support through sermons, public lectures, and religious programs aimed at reducing the problem within society. He stated, “Drug abuse is a serious threat to the lives of our youth and the peace of our communities. It is therefore our collective responsibility to work together to save our hearts and our future.”
Similarly, senior clerics of JIBWIS who accompanied the chairman offered various recommendations on how to address the rising cases of drug abuse, urging for more awareness campaigns and the use of religious platforms to educate and guide young people away from such habits.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation, where both parties agreed to strengthen their partnership in conducting awareness programs and supporting youth development initiatives aimed at protecting Gombe State from the scourge of drug abuse.
